We can’t wait to host Caitlin Wallace for workshops and private lessons in dance trapeze and flexibility on December 7th!

SPINAL TWISTS ABD SIDE BENDS 11:30 - 1:30
Did you know sidebending and rotation are coupled motions in the spine? As in, they will always occur together! This flexibility workshop expands on that, offering innovative drills to improve thoracic rotation (twists), as well as deep hip flexibility, and open shoulders in sidebends. The culmination of this class will be y-scale (and y-scale-esque) positions, as well as sidebending in straddles. Along the way we will also discuss the application of different exercises to aerial skills like meathooks, c-shapes, bell beats, and more.

FLOWING UP AND DOWN ON DANCE TRAPEZE 1:45 - 3:45
This workshop teaches a unique sequence that travels across trapeze “levels’’ – under the bar, on the bar, and in the ropes. It includes sneaky transitions between levels, offering tricks for hiding elements like regripping or repositioning body placement. The result will be insight on how to make smooth, controlled level changes so trapeze flows effortlessly.

We’re thrilled to be welcoming one of our favorite guest coaches, Mykelle Walton (@elleviolet ), back to Air Temple for not one, but two full mini-sessions of classes in December!

Mykelle will be teaching straps and spinning on Thursdays in December.

Let’s Level Up: Straps
In this mini-series we will start work on leveling up beginning straps poses into more dynamic and strength based movement. Topics covered will include introductions to one arm work like back flag and beginning transfers, momentum based movement like dislocates, and beginning styles of roll-ups.
 Prerequisites: Straight arm inversions, solid meathook from two arms

Let’s Level Up: Spins
You have all the basics of not falling off your apparatus when you are spinning during your tricks, but now you really want to use spin as a highlight of your act! There are many different ways to spin from the ground to get into the air, and many more ways to spin in the air. In this multi-apparatus mini-series we will cover the more advanced spinning skills like flares, centering, and counterbalance with your apparatus!

Prerequisites: Able to spin while on your apparatus for more than 30 seconds. Endurance to work on spinning for 1 hour at a time.

CLASS SPOTLIGHT: BEATS WITH LAUREN!

In this 4 week mini series we will explore our existing knowledge of beats, refine our technique, become more efficient in our pathways and explore different beat combinations.

We will also start to explore more advanced beats, how we can ascend and descend with our beats, find weightlessness and where we can introduce slack drags and pop throughs. This class is designed for both rope and silks students.

Prerequisites: Those who sign up should have an existing vertical apparatus training, knowledge of beats (bell, pike, scissor and straddle) and be able to perform two clean inversions. If you have any questions feel free to reach out to Lauren (@__vino_ ) directly!
